EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Installation - 2016 Ford Fusion

Hello neighbors, it's Brad here at etrailer, and today we're taking a look and installing the Eco Hitch trailer hitch receiver on a 2016 Ford Fusion. Now this is what your hitch is gonna look like when it's installed on your Fusion, and the great part is this is a hidden cross-tube, so all that you're gonna see is the two-inch by two-inch receiver tube opening, and even the safety chain loops are nice and tidy here, so it gives it a pretty clean look while still being able to use a two-inch by two-inch, which is kind of the standard size for hitches. So when it comes to bike racks, cargo carriers, or even ball mounts, you're gonna have tons of options to be able to load up on your Fusion. Now all of those accessories are gonna stay in place with a 5/8th pin and clip, and this is not included with the hitch. A lot of times, when you pick up accessories, they'll have one included, so something to look for if you're also choosing accessories. And if you want a locking pin and clip, those are really nice, too, if you plan on leaving your accessories on the vehicle, that way you can lock it in place and no one can just walk away with whatever you have loaded up. more

Trailer Hitch Installation - 2018 Ford Fusion - Curt

Speaker 1: Today we'll be a look at and showing you how to install the Curt Class Two Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number C12091, on our 2018 Ford Fusion. Here's what our hitch looks like installed. Now one of the common questions that we get on our website about people when they purchase a hitch and they wanna use it with a bike rack or a cargo carrier is that when you have that installed on your vehicle, will it affect your backup sensorsAnd the answer's yes. When something's in front of it, like your bike rack or your cargo carrier, when the vehicle's in reverse, the sensors will be going off at all times so you'll have an audible warning. In some vehicles, you'll have an alert message on the dash. But as soon as you put the vehicle back in drive and you're driving forward, you don't have to worry about any buzzing or any warning messages on the dash. Now one really nice feature about his hitch is that the only part visible underneath the vehicle is the actual receiver opening itself. more

Speaker 1: Today in this 2018 Ford Fusion, we'll be having a look at, and showing you how to install, the Draw-Tite Class 1 Trailer Hitch Receiver. Part number 24897.Here's what our hitch looks like installed. One thing you'll notice as you're standing behind the vehicle, this hitch is actually fairly well-hidden underneath it. The only part you really see is the inch and a quarter receiver hanging down on itself. Now, one question many of our customers have asked us in the past is that they're using a bike rack or a cargo carrier on their hitch, if their vehicle's equipped with back-up sensors, will it interfere with the sensors. The answer is yes. When you're backing up your vehicle with something on the hitch, and it's in front of the sensors, you will have the alarm going off at all times, but as soon as you put the vehicle in drive and you start driving away normally, the alarm will go off, and you'll have no warning messages on the dash, either. On the side of our receiver, you'll find our industry standard half inch diameter hitch pinhole. more

Best 2017 Ford Fusion Trailer Hitch

Speaker 1: Today we're gonna be taking a look at the best hitch options for your 2017 Ford Fusion. One thing I do wanna mention right up front is if you have this Ford model Fusion, we are gonna be limited to one style hitch. Curt is gonna offer us a class two hitch for our Fusion sport model, and it's gonna have all the same weight ratings as our other Curt class two, but the only difference really is gonna be the mounting locations because of the aquatic exhaust in our sport. All the features and ratings on our Curt here are gonna be the same as our Curt for our sport model. So let's go ahead and take a closer look at our two other hitches and go over some of the differences. Up top here we have a Curt, which is gonna be a class two hitch, and then right below that we're gonna have a Draw-Tite, which is gonna be a class one. So just looking at our hitches, you can see how differently they're designed. more

Here's what our hitch is going to look like once we have it installed on our Fusion. All we're gonna see is the receiver tube sticking out right below our bumpers, and the cross tube is going to hidden right behind the fascia here. It is a Class II hitch, which means it's going to give us that inch and a quarter, by inch and a quarter receiver tube opening, and it's going to be great for those accessories like your bike racks, cargo carriers, or if you're towing a small trailer. The way we're going to mount any of our accessories is going to be through the hitch pin hole here on the side, and it is going to accept a standard half inch pin and clip. Now, the safety chain connection points are going to be a loop style. more

They're both going to be behind our bumpers, so we're not going to have to worry about hitting our leg when we're walking behind our Fusion, but the Draw-Tite is going to be out maybe about an inch farther, which when we're looking at folding accessories that is going to come in handy to make sure that we have that adequate clearance between the accessory and we don't make contact with the bumper. When it comes to weight ratings, they are going to have a significant difference. Because our Draw-Tite is a class one hitch, it's going to have a 200 pound tongue weight, which is the maximum downward force of the receiver tube, along with a 2,000 pound gross trailer weight rating. That's the amount it can pull, including the trailer and everything we have loaded on it.Now, our Curt is going to bump up because it is a class two hitch, so it's going to have 350 pounds of tongue weight, along with 35,000 pounds of gross trailer weight rating. Now, you should always double check your Fusion's owner's manual and make sure you don't exceed the manufacturers recommended weight. Now, one thing to note with the Curt, the manufacturer does recommend to use a stabilization strap anytime you're towing any non trailer loads or any loads that aren't supported by tires, like a bike rack, or a cargo carrier. As far as the installation goes, both of our hitches are going to mount exactly the same. more

Today on our 2016 Ford Fusion we will be installing the Draw-Tite Sportframe, Class I, 1-1/4" Trailer Hitch Receiver, part number 24897. Here's what the hitch looks like once it's installed. As you can see, it's a really clean installation. You have this nice gloss, black powder-coat finish here, which hangs down below our bumper cover a little bit. It's got a nice angular V-shape to it, so it has a sporty appearance. This Class I, 1-1/4" receiver is tucked up behind our bumper cover, almost flush with it. A nice note about that, with it being almost flush like that, if you're loading into the trunk you really don't have to worry about running your knee into it quite as much as you would of some other ones that would stick out further. We have these really easy to use safety chain loops here to hook up the safety chains on our trailer. What's nice is they're not too thick, so even with the really small diameter safety chains will clip onto it really easily. more

Today in this 2014 Ford Fusion we are going to show you the Curt class 2, 1 inch and 1/4 receiver hitch, part number C12091. This is what the hitch looks like once installed on a vehicle. Right off the bet, all you can really see is the receiver opening and the safety chain loops. Not much to see, which is a good thing. This is an 1 inch and a 1/4 receiver right here, it has a nice rounded collar around the edge of the receiver, also uses a 1/2 inch hitch pin right here, or you can fit a hitch pin lock. Safety chain loops right here, big open design so it'll fit a variety of chain hooks that are out there. This goes all the way back towards the body of the hitch, which is all completely hidden behind the bumper. Now, this does require a panel to be removed to install the hitch so it sits behind the bumper. This hitch comes with all the hardware necessary to install and no drilling required. A couple of other things to know about our hitch is that it has a 350 lbs. tongue weight, which is the weight from the trailer pushing down on the hitch. more
